Senior Staff Accountant

Overview

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for performing general ledger analysis and maintaining adequate documentation and records to provide financial information to internal and external parties. They will report to the Accounting Manager and have high visibility to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform general ledger reconciliations
  • Compile and prepare journal entries to the general ledger
  • Gather and prepare materials for audit and external financial compliance activities.
  • Work with departments within the Company to ensure accurate cutoff procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of month end balance sheet accounts and Profit and Loss Statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of Financial Statements
  • Develops accounting procedures and controls by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional. publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Processing accounts payable transactions
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Overall, the Senior Staff Accountant should possess the skills necessary to properly assist in managing the general ledger close process. These requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years public accounting or corporate accounting experience
  • Experience with ERP systems (Netsuite is a nice to have)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Maniacal attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong Knowledge of General Accounting
  • Willing/excited to work in a fast-paced, but sometimes intense, rapidly expanding company
  • Strong computer literacy and/or the comfort, ability and desire to advance technically
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information and to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Willingness to expand range of responsibilities as needed based on the evolution of the company and the role
  • Orientation to “roll up your sleeves” to do what it takes to meet commitments
  • Ability to succeed with minimal supervision
